Equipment: You need to be well equipped with spares and tools for remote travel. Your vehicle needs to be in top shape with 1,000 + km fuel range.
Comment: The plan is to drive to Birdsville via the Simpson Desert. The exact route is still to be finalised. Hoping to drive Goog's Track on the way out or way back. Four week trip - every vehicle needs to be self sufficient with food and water and carrying sufficient fuel.
NOTE: There will be a 'shake down' trip in May to ensure everyone is well prepared. The Big Red Bash (sponsored by ARB and Redarc) is at the base of Big Red in the Simpson Desert - tickets for 3 days/nights of music and on-site camping are $465 each.

Mollerin Rock is approx 288 Ks from Perth in the Shire of Korda.

We will probably leave Friday late afternoon and camp at Minnivale that night .TBA . There is a toilet but no water at the camp ground. It is a nature reserve and there will most ikely be 1080 baits so this is a no dog trip. I have not performed a reeccie for this trip. We will all do the reccie together over the weekend 🙂

Grade: 2+ - Need to have completed Awareness Weekend. Anticipated moderately difficult 4WD trip.
Gunbarrel Highway, then return on the Connie Sue, then onto Lake Ranson Road to Edjudina and bakc home through Kalgoorlie. Permits required.
Equipment: Usual remote recovery gear that includes UHF Radio, 2 spares, snatch strap, tow rope and Dee shackles, air compressor for reinflation of tyres, pressure gauge, long handled shovel, jacking plate. Have on board mechanical spares - read your Awareness Weekend booklet for the basic list. Also need 1st aid kit, sun creme, good footwear. Drinking water = 3ltrs per person per day, food and camping gear for 3 or 4 weeks.

Activities start Friday night 22nd January at the Observatory - please pay $18 before 10 Nov.
Saturday 23rd includes, boomerang throw, gumboot throw, handbag throw, two-up, boules, Mr and Mrs Australia competition along with a kids water slide to keep everyone bouncing and enjoying themselves. Saturday night brings a 6pm shared main meal and evening entertainment.

Comments: 4WD in the afternoon, then picnic or BBQ tea, wildlife sanctuary at 6pm.
The nature walk follows rocky bush tracks, takes about 2 hours, with a number of stops along the way. It is followed by a cup of tea and quick chat.
Note - there are some hills on the route and the ground can be slippery. The walk is not suitable for children under 7 and participants need to be relatively fit and stable on their feet. $20/adult $15/concession $60/family (2 adults 2 children)

Dinner will be on the Saturday evening. Long Weekend and Progressive Dinner.

Trip will follow Roly Dimer trip in Western 4WDriver's book 4WD Days in the Goldfields of WA and will involve some 4wding and looking around. Progressive Dinner will be near Helena and Aurora Ranges.

Trip not Caravan Suitable. Camper Trailers OK.
Everyone contributes to meal. $10 per person (payable to SUDS Before August Meeting) to be distributed amongst all and guarantees Attendance.

Comments: 4WD into Steep Point off the bitumen. This remote part of WA is always enjoyed by
members, good fishing, perhaps a day of rain, good conversations over the evening
meal. Parks and Wildlife basic campsite. All vehicles MUST have proper front and rear
tow points fixed with high tensile bolts.

This will be a relaxing trip but one where we will be exploring rocks, ruins and all places of interest that we can find along the way. The sun comes up early so we intend to make the most of every day but at a leisurely pace.

Expect sandy, rocky and tight tracks, saltpans, muddy if wet and beach driving.

First night’s camp will be near Lake Johnson, then Norseman for fuel, last minute supplies, on to check out Dundas coach Road heritage Trail, follow telegraph Track to Balladonia, black top to Madura and the a night in a Caravan Park. On to Burnabbie Ruins, Eyre Bird Observatory, Twilight Cover, Baxter’s Cliffs and Memorial, Point Culver and Bilbunya Dunes, Israelite Bay and Point Malcolm.

Self sufficient in food, water and supplies for a minimum of 12 days
